Glasvegas come to PJ’s on 27th May!

One could argue GLASVEGAS need no introduction. One of the most successful Scottish musical exports in recent times, globally known for their unique sound and powerful lyrical content, they are a band that have never compromised; never conformed; commanding respect from their peers and critics alike and enjoying a fiercely loyal global fan base. Their influence since exploding onto the scene in 2008 has been far-reaching and undeniable. One only has to listen to the many up-and-coming Scottish bands (and even some of the established ones) to hear the influence of Glasvegas, especially Allan’s emotive (Glaswegian) vocal delivery which brought his native brogue into the mainstream and to a worldwide audience. For the uninitiated Glasvegas are James Allan (vocals), Rab Allan (lead guitar), Paul Donoghue (bass guitar) and Jonna Löfgren (drums). The band received worldwide critical acclaim for their 2008 platinum selling debut album “Glasvegas”. Released in September 2008 it reached No. 2 in the UK Album Charts and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize a year after release in September 2009. The album went on to enjoy further critical and commercial success in North America and in Sweden (where it went Gold). On 1 December 2008, less than three months after the release of their debut album the band released the mini-album, A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like A Kiss), a 6 track Christmas E.P, which was recorded in Transylvania. The band embarked on several tours of North America and Europe to promote the album. In 2010 the entire band decamped to Santa Monica, California where they wrote, demoed & tracked their second album “Euphoric /// Heartbreak \\\” before final recording took place in London under the auspices of producer Flood. Released in April 2011 their sophomore album (and their final release on Columbia Records) received further critical acclaim and the band embarked on their biggest world tour to date. In early 2013 the band signed with another major player BMG and in September of that same year Glasvegas released their third studio album “Later…When The TV Turns To Static” again to critical acclaim. With a brand new album set for release in 2017, the Glasvegas legacy continues…
